For the Rise Up Now study books Kenyan illustrator Stanislaus Issa Olonde created a playful set of characters that served as inspiration for the brand identity. The logo icon is based on a sunset, the symbol for a fresh start and a feature Kenya is known for. The rays of the sun are also referencing a spring, symbolizing resilience. The icon has a playful, hand drawn style and can be used on its own or as a part of the logo wordmark.
The logo wordmark can be used with the tagline ‘Inuka’ – Swahili for ‘rise up’, a phrase often used by William and the team in Kenya. Handwritten in a playful style, the tagline can be used as a primary mark, with the logo underneath, or as a tagline for the logo.
The color palette consists of a bright orange and yellow complimented by a subtle blue for contrast. The typography features a bold and friendly font that can be combined with a handwritten font for playful accents. To match those accents I added a set of hand drawn mini-illustrations to be used on photos or in marketing communications.
